Many believers are unnecessarily limiting their spiritual experience because of fear and doubt. There are even common ideological mindsets going around many Christian religious circles that produce the effect of believers being overly cautious to the point of not getting out in the spirit to explore at all.
There is a root of fear of the unknown in the corrupted nature of man. The reason this exists, since the fall, is simple; when man became disconnected from experientially knowing God’s perfect love, feeling vulnerable and unprotected, fear entered.
Think about it, when man is unsure he’s under the wing of the Almighty, being protected by a loving God, because he is or feels disconnected from God, the universe becomes a much scarier place full of all manner of danger. However, the more we experience reconnecting with God love, through Christ, the more his perfect love casts out all fear.
1Jn 4:18-19 AMP There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love's complete perfection]. (19) We love Him, because He first loved us.
Rom 8:31-39 MKJV What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (32) Truly He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? (33) Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is God who justifies. (34) Who is he condemning? It is Christ who has died, but rather also who isthe right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. (35) Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? (36) As it is written, “For Your sake we are killed all the day long. We are counted as sheep of slaughter.” (37) But in all these things we more than conquer through Him who loved us. (38) For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, (39) nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Spending time meditating on these passages can do wonders for overcoming fear and receiving of God’s love, having faith to move forward as the children of God we are meant to be, to explore as it is written here:
Eph 3:17-19 MKJV that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, (18) may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth and length and depth and height, (19) and to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, that you might be filled with all the fullness of God.
We are meant to explore this limitless God Scripture tells us about, in whom we live, move, and have our being (Acts 17:28). In Christ we are made able explorers. However, fear is crippling and will keep us from this exciting adventure of Life in Christ, if we allow it.
Say no to a spirit of fear and say yes to the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord!
