In the modern Western cultures, good and evil are often made into philosophical, abstract ideas. What does it really mean for something to be good, or for something to be evil? Should we philosophize at length and come up with our own ideas about good and evil as some intangible abstraction? This article is designed to clear this up, and show how the subject of good and evil is concrete truth, and not abstract philosophical theory.
In the first article titled “How To Discern False Doctrine” we looked at two primary aspects of God’s plan for mankind that false doctrine attempts to lead people away from; namely the full grace (unmerited favor) God shows man and communion (intimate knowledge of and fellowship with) God. Let us build on this foundation and learn to become adept at distinguishing true doctrine of Christ.
I have perceived that there is concern and even fear among many Christians concerning false doctrines, and their spread among Christians. Though I do not believe it correct to fear such, I understand the reason for concern, and am concerned myself. We should all be concerned about false doctrines spreading, if we love the truth.
It is absolutely necessary for our development in Christ that we face this cross. This is not to be confused with coming to the cross to receive initial salvation, the new life of the spirit and the washing away of iniquity by the Blood that was shed for us. We initially come to the cross only to receive, by faith, the finished work of the cross.
I keep hearing that 2010 is ‘the year’ for miracles, signs, and wonders that have been preached, claimed, and sought after in every year past. I believe this is the year for many believers to begin walking in more scriptural power and occurrences.
